April 3, Maipu Day 1
We woke up in Mendoza to find it dead on a Sunday, so went to 2 rather depressing museums and headed back to Maipu. One was the snake museum, and the other was an aquarium. The aquarium was falling into disrepair and the tortise in particular looked absolutely miserable.
When back in Maipu and to the Family Cecchin winery, we experienced a great room, great food, and wonderful hospitality. No working jacuzzi tub, but the overall experience was great!
April 4, Maipu Day 2 - Bike/Wine Touring around
The Cecchin tour and taste was lovely.
We then went to Carinae boutique winery. It was pretty cool, and had great wine and olive oil. Our tour guide was really great as well.
We went to this artisan cheesemaker, toured of garden with loads of fruit and olive trees, and cheese production room. Tried some cheeses and fruits which were great! She let us pick a pomegranite from her tree to take with us on the road.
Then as when en route to our last winery of the day, we random biked past our friend that we met in El Bolson, Miles! Miles and a swiss friend then joined us for our last winery and we indulged in steaks and lots of wines. Miles rented his bike from one of the numerous rental shops that give you a map of wineries and send you off to taste. Maipu is the wine area most set up to do tasting by bike this way.
